There is an old saying that states that giving is better than receiving. But, is gifting your way to happiness really possible? If you take into account the many ways that giving builds relationships, shows how much you care and inevitably cycles back to you in time, it is obvious that giving can positively affect many different aspects of your life.
One of easiest and most important ways that giving can benefit you is when your time is spent giving to family and friends. You don't need to literally buy them gifts to win their affection; you just need to let them know that they are important to you and that your favorite way to spend your precious free time is with them. You can cook and have dinner together, watch television or go to the movies, go to fun sporting events or cheer them on when they are playing team sports. These types of activities can truly make your bond with friends and family grow stronger. It builds on the trust, love and friendship you have now and will bring you closer together as time goes on. In this way, gifting your way to happiness is truly possible.
If you do want to show a loved one that you have been thinking about him or her or an important day in his or her life - like a birthday - a gift other than your time may be appropriate. For these types of special occasions, it is often best to create or personalize a gift tailored specifically to the recipient. If it is a friend's birthday and she is a huge fan of crossword puzzles and word games for instance, you could buy her a gift basket that contains many of her favorite games. If she's a chocolate or candy lover, you could create a gift basket that has all of her favorite treats inside. By giving personalized gifts baskets, it shows that you are willing to go the extra mile for your friend and put in the time necessary to get a gift you know she'll love.
Everyone knows that children love gifts, and seeing the look on their faces when you give them the perfect gift is definitely another way of gifting your way to happiness. The perfect children's gift could be a trip to their favorite place, like the zoo or amusement park. Another amazing gift idea could be something you have picked out and customized just for them. It could be a personalized rocking horse with the child's name on it or a gift basket that includes stuffed animals they love. If he or she loves baseball, you could pick out a fun piece of children's furniture and have a baseball themed painted on it.
As you can see, gifting your way to happiness can be both easy and fun - and, the more you do it, the more fulfilling and enjoyable your life can become.
