Giving gifts on special occasions is part of all cultures. It is a beautiful gesture and a way to express care, affection, and good wishes. Sometimes we give gifts to express apology or as a token of appreciation. We also give gifts to business associates to strengthen business relationships. Gift giving is an art and this article tells you as to how you can put this art into practice next time you need to buy a gift.
Selecting a Gift
Irrespective of the occasion, selecting a gift is a tough job. When picking a gift, don't get carried away by what you like or dislike. You must consider the person and the occasion. Think for a while about the person for whom you need to buy a gift and also the occasion-Is it some big and truly special occasion or a regular one? Is the person close to you? Do you share a great relationship with him/her? Is it purely for business? There is a great difference between selecting a birthday gift for a colleague and selecting a gift for a wedding of a close friend or 25th wedding anniversary of your parents. A birthday gift can be anything from a book, photo frame, or a decoration piece, but a wedding gift or gift for 25th anniversary of your parents has to be really special. It could be a pair of nice elegant watches or bracelets. Consider likes, interests, and personality of the person for whom the gift is intended. You can give naughty, sweet, or a stylish gift depending on the occasion and the person.
Gift Presentation
Gift presentation is as important as the gift itself and a simple gift can become special just by its presentation style. If packed in a unique way, the gift presentation itself is remembered for long. The packing style can be mischievous or classy, engaging or regular again depending on the person and the occasion. You can think of innovative, creative gift wrapping styles and can add a touch of humor or emotion.
If it is a gift from the organization to employees or the clients the packing style must have a touch of organization's brand. A nice handwritten note in a gift for your beloved can make it truly memorable. You can make a collage of memorable pictures and wrap the gift in it. You can go for a nice jewelry box to give a bracelet. A net cloth or tissue can also be used instead of the wrapping paper. A gift basket is also a nice way to pack a gift. You can use dry scented flowers, glitters, ribbons, and bows to enhance the wrapping style. Remember the packing style must match the gift. Many nice gift boxes and paper bags are also available for the purpose.
